Unlike traditional management training, which often emphasises generic people management skills, our Core Operational Excellence program goes beyond that. We focus on fostering collaborative problem-solving, critical thinking, process management and improvement, data analysis, and balancing demand with capacity. Operational excellence represents a core set of competences that adds substance to leadership and management skills like communication and influencing. Our program is designed to transform the mindset and operations of leaders, equipping them with the necessary tools to achieve sustainable outcomes. It’s about embracing the power of “and” rather than settling for “or.”
We focus on developing critical thinking, business acumen, and an operational excellence mindset. Our approach empowers leaders to work on the business, delegate, and trust their teams, leading to improved employee engagement. We help leaders manage patterns rather than reacting to individual incidents, learning from repeat issues and understanding the underlying drivers. We encourage leaders to shift away from blaming individuals and to recognise that the ecosystem design may have contributed to poor performance. QBS works with leaders to optimise their ecosystem for success.
On completion of this program, participants will be able to apply for the BSB50420 Diploma in Leadership and Management from Deakin University, as well as apply to enter their Bachelor of Business and be eligible to receive credit for up to a year of the three-year degree! In addition, they will receive our verifiable COE digital badge and access two MBA credits (on enrolment with Torrens University).

Our program is designed as a genuine 70/20/10 learning experience, where participants embark on a transformative journey of growth and development. After an initial induction, participants attend a series of logically sequenced workshops, each lasting approximately one day and spaced 5-6 weeks apart. During these workshops, they receive comprehensive portfolios and templates to guide their learning and application of operational excellence principles. Following each workshop, participants continue working on the concepts with their teams, leaders, and stakeholders, supported by one-on-one expert coaching. This collaborative approach ensures that they can effectively apply what they have learned to their specific roles and business contexts. Throughout the program, participants document their progress in portfolios, which are then assessed by experienced leaders and coaches. This assessment provides valuable feedback and guidance, helping participants continuously improve and reach their full potential.
By successfully completing all six portfolios to the satisfaction of the assessors, participants earn a nationally recognised qualification. They also gain access to MBA credits and receive a digital badge, recognising their achievement in mastering operational excellence.
